THE FILM
The Invite is a Black-led documentary film series, inviting artists and community leaders across disciplines — music, film, dance, theater, poetry, culinary arts and more — to SERVE their recipes for SOLIDARITY & liberation.
ON FREEDOM
How can we declare independence from systems that are not invested in our thriving?
Celebrating Black liberation from enslavement, the first installment of The Invite explores "Freedom" with an exclusive preview on Juneteenth and global premiere on Independence Day 2026, the 250th anniversary of its Declaration by the United States.
We speak to Black artists and healers to discuss Freedom in all its diversity -- freedom of expression, sexuality, in interpersonal and community relationships -- including Shea Couleé, Lisa Beasley (a.k.a. Corporate Erin), Jamila Woods, Jenn Freeman (Po Chop), Morgan Johnson (The Triibe), Jade T. Perry, Mykele Deville, and Dr. Nicole Rawls.
